Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has warned officers of the state police command against corruption and infringement on fundamental human rights of Nigerians.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has warned officers of the state police command against corruption and infringement on fundamental human rights of Nigerians.

The CP also charged area commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPO)/ Head of Departments (HODs) and tactical commanders to translate their long-time relationship with him to success in the state.

Alabi charged the officers during his maiden meeting with them at the command headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos.

According to the command spokesman, Adekunle Ajisebutu, the warning was informed by the belief that some officers the CP has known for some time may want to take an undue advantage of their familiarity and take things for granted and abdicate their statutory duties.

“Although, the CP cherished friendship, such friendship must not be at the detriment of diligence, result-oriented policing and, quality service delivery to the people.

“The CP has warned officers against corruption and infringement on fundamental human rights of Nigerians, as offenders will not go unpunished.”

Alabi also directed the Area Commanders and DPOs to constantly engage and partner with critical stakeholders in their areas of responsibilities for effective policing.

He assured that he would always provide good leadership that would help them succeed in the discharge of their duties.
