ADC says CP as City boy, Oluomo as INEC contractor indicate no boundaries under Tinubu

The City Boy Movement has defended the presence of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police at the inauguration of its Lagos State chapter, insisting that the police chief’s attendance should not be interpreted as political endorsement or evidence of institutional bias.

The group stated this in a statement signed by its National Director of Media Monitoring and Rapid Response, Bashir Ahmad, yesterday, following public reactions and commentaries linking the police
commissioner’s attendance at the event to partisan politics.

However, the CityBoy Movement in Ogun State has disowned a group known as “CityBoy Likeminds,” declaring that it is not affiliated with or recognised by the organisation at any level of its structure.

Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration of appropriating state institutions to advance the President’s 2027 political agenda, saying that reports of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) contracting a long-standing political henchman of the President for election logistics, as well as the appearance of Lagos State CP at the launch of the pro-Tinubu City Boy Movement, demonstrate a cynical disregard for public sensitivity and a dangerous pattern whereby partisan actors are being positioned to handle sensitive election materials while a head of state institutions that are required to be neutral are brazenly co-opted into partisan politics.

In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Adeyemi Ajasa, the Movement said CityBoy Likeminds was not part of its national, zonal, state, local council, ward or polling unit structures and warned members of the public against associating with the group’s activities.

Ajasa, therefore, cautioned the promoters of the CityBoy Likeminds to immediately desist from actions capable of creating confusion, misinformation and unnecessary distractions among members and supporters of the movement in Ogun State.

The CityBoy Movement, which reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots mobilisation, political enlightenment and strategic engagement across the state’s 20 local councils, 236 wards and polling units in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said it remained focused on strengthening its structures and intensifying mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections to ensure the successful re-election of Tinubu and other candidates of the ruling party in Ogun State.

He urged members, coordinators, stakeholders and the public to disregard any unauthorised group claiming to represent the CityBoy Movement outside its officially recognised structure and to continue engaging with the legitimate leadership of the organisation.

In a statement by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party warned that the developments raise serious questions about the neutrality of Nigeria’s electoral and security institutions ahead of the 2027 elections and demanded immediate explanations from both the INEC and the Nigeria Police Force.
