The family of Olowu Ogunkalu of Oreki Village, Lagos State, has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Director of State Security Services (DSS), and Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as well as the state’s Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state for protection over alleged activities of suspected thugs.

The family alleged that the thugs are working with some land grabbers to disturb their community.
According to them, what they were doing on the land was using their family land in Oreki as a training camp for alleged banditry, who they claimed were terrorists.

Expressing worries about the sudden development, which is allegedly aided by some policemen, Ogunkalu family urged concerned authorities to stop the infringement of their rights.

In a statement, signed by the head of the family, Chief Waliu Olowu, the family urged the IGP, DSS, Governor Sanwo-Olu as well as the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of Lagos to come to their rescue.

The family also decried the activities of an alleged billionaire fraudster, who they said specialised in using government land given to others to defraud innocent land buyers by pretending as a real estate agent.

They also alleged that a chief, who had successfully built a land grabbing cartel, now turned to sponsor of alleged bandits, has been using the bandits and some mobile police officers to harass members of the community.

“They have been blocking other police formations from investigating the activities of the sponsors and land grabbers,” Olowu stated.
