Lagos kicks off interstate park accreditation, digitisation of manifest
The Lagos State government has officially launched an interstate park accreditation and passenger manifest digitization initiative, aimed at enhancing safety, efficiency, and convenience for travelers across its parks and garages.
At a press briefing, Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, highlighted that this initiative will modernise the management of interstate travel by establishing a secure digital record system for passenger information, replacing the current paper-based manifests.
The digital platform will allow real-time data capture, providing authorities with quick access to essential passenger information during emergencies.
As part of the project, interstate parks that meet safety and service standards will receive official certification and display signage for passenger assurance, while unregulated parks will be required to upgrade their standards. The system will integrate with existing booking systems where available, and provide on-site devices for digital manifest entry in more informal parks.
For passengers, the digital manifest ensures greater security and reliability. Park operators will benefit from improved infrastructure and an official quality mark, while the state gains valuable data to support urban planning and policy development.
“As for the state,” Osiyemi stated. “The initiative marks a vital step in the modernisation of its transportation sector, as the project will not only strengthen public safety but also generate employment opportunities and provide valuable data to guide urban planning and transportation policy.
“By enforcing park standardisation and leveraging digital technology, Lagos is leading the way in innovative, forward-thinking governance. The Lagos State Interstate Park Accreditation and Passenger Manifest Digitization project exemplifies our commitment to building a transportation system that every citizen can rely on. Through this initiative, Lagosians can feel safer, park operators can gain credibility, and Lagos State can continue to set new standards for modern, efficient governance.”
