The Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wants President Muhammadu Buhari to reopen the several political assassinations that have happened in the country.

The party’s Deputy Chairman, Mr. Skakiru Ola Apena, made the call in Lagos while addressing the press.

“We commend the efforts of President Buhari in his desire to revisit the gruesome murder of former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Bola Ige. But it is also expedient that he looks into other past political killings,” he said.

He specifically urged the president to extend same gesture to the late Pa Alfred Rewane, Aminosoari Dikibo, wife of the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 Presidential elections, Kudirat Abiola and the 2006 Lagos governorship candidate of the PDP, Funso Williams, among others.

On the other hand, the party called on the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, to as a matter of urgency, put measures in place to conduct free, fair and transparent local government elections.

He said the current sole administrators at the councils are constitutionally alien to the 1999 Constitution.

Apena reiterated, “In anticipation of the council polls, the PDP has put structures in place in all the 20 local councils and the 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) in readiness for the exercise.”
