Lagos to blacklist contractors over non-compliance with building guidelines
Lagos State government has threatened to henceforth blacklist contractors who fail to comply with the state’s guidelines on the construction of houses.
Permanent Secretary of the state’s Housing Ministry, Wasiu Akewusola, disclosed this during the inspection of housing schemes at Igando and Egan areas of the state.
He cautioned contractors who may want to deviate from the state government’s housing construction guidelines against compromise, promising that the government will sanction such erring contractors.
Akewusola noted that non-compliance and variations in quality and measurements would only compromise the structural reliability of buildings in the long run and affect their durability.
He stressed that the state would no longer tolerate contractors who cut corners to maximise profits to the detriment of the people who would live in the houses.
