A landlord, Benjamin Apeh, has reportedly died after an argument with his male tenant, identified simply as Emmanuel, at Arigbabu Village in the Sotubo area of Ogun State.

The Guardian learnt that the deceased had an argument with the tenant on June 1, at about 7:20 p.m., over unpaid house rent.

It was learnt that the following day, June 2, at about 6:30 p.m., the landlord again picked up the argument with the tenant at the front of the house, while the tenant allegedly threatened to kill him.

Confirming the development, spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, said the deceased’s daughter, Precious Apeh, reported that during the argument, her father, Benjamin, collapsed and was rushed to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Hospital, Mosimi, but was later confirmed dead by a doctor.

“Detectives, led by SP Temitope Fapohunda, have visited the scene and taken photographs. Further updates will be communicated.

“The deceased’s body has been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue Sagamu, for preservation,” she added.
