Landmark properties were not demolished, says Umahi

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, yesterday, said that none of Landmark Beach Resort properties was involved during the demolition of structures along the coastal line, adding that the two Landmark’s properties were totally saved.
Umahi, in a chat with journalists in Abakaliki, pleaded with people, especially those from the South-East, to do their investigation before assuming anything, adding that he saved the two properties, not because it is Landmark, but because he is a developer.
The minister added that they diverted the area where those cables passed, adding that they would not even want to place the road by the side of the cable, because it will generate heat and noise, which will affect the quality of the cable.
He said: “We were having so many cables; MTN and African Post. It came from the ocean and birth at the ocean shore. What I heard people say was that the project is cancelled. There is nothing like that.
“We would not even want to place the road by the side of the cable, because it will generate heat and noise, which will affect the quality of the cable. So, the cable is totally saved and not even close to it. It occurred at about kilometre 22 and started to realign at kilometre 20. Then we came back to our coast at kilometre 25.”
