LAPO MfB appoints Ehigiamusoe as Board chair

LAPO Microfinance Bank has appointed Dr. Godwin Ehigiamusoe as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors, succeeding Mrs. Osaretin Demuren.
The bank praised Demuren for her leadership, particularly in strengthening LAPO’s position in Nigeria’s microfinance sector.
Dr. Ehigiamusoe, a seasoned microfinance expert, brings over three decades of experience in financial inclusion and economic development. He founded the Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) in the late 1980s as a response to poverty exacerbated by Nigeria’s Structural Adjustment Programme. Under his leadership, LAPO has expanded into microfinance, healthcare, insurance, micro-leasing, technology, and agriculture.
A chartered microfinance banker and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Dr. Ehigiamusoe holds a doctorate in policy and development studies with a focus on financial inclusion.
Expressing his commitment to advancing LAPO’s mission, he described his appointment as an opportunity to build on the institution’s achievements and further drive financial inclusion across the country.
