The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has reiterated its readiness to partner with relevant institutions and other stakeholders towards entrenching safety of lives and properties in the state.

Its General Manager, Adesina Tiamiyu, who disclosed this yesterday at the Command and Control Centre in Alausa, while receiving a delegation from the Disaster Management Programme of the University of Lagos, Akoka, stating: “The agency’s door is open to partnership and collaboration with relevant institution towards building its capacity and response capability in disaster management”.

He noted that over the years, the LASEMA has given necessary support to undergraduates from various universities in the areas of internship (SIWES), research and development, as well as volunteering in emergency response and skill acquisition and training, adding that after working out a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the school, they would be willing to accept students for industrial attachment programmes posted to its response unit.

Tiamiyu noted that in the last three years, there has been a remarkable improvement in emergency management in the state, as the present administration has invested so much in the procurement of new equipment, provisions of training programmes and establishment of additional dispatch centres.

In his response, leader of the delegation, Alabi Soneye, who is the Coordinator, Masters in Disaster Management (MDM) programme, thanked the agency for its activities.
