Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed five hospitality establishments in Ikorodu over persistent environmental infractions, following repeated warnings and failure to comply with regulatory directives.

The agency disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, saying the enforcement exercise was carried out in line with the Lagos State Government’s directive to ensure strict compliance with environmental laws and protect public health.

According to LASEPA, the affected establishments had been served several abatement notices and given multiple opportunities to rectify the identified environmental violations but failed to comply.
The agency identified the affected facilities as Docklands Hotels, Royal Tree Hotel and Suite, Rivera Hotel, Medallion Hotel and Daval Spring Hotel.

The hotels are located in different parts of Ikorodu, including Ijede Road, Gberigbe Road, Aga and Owode-Ibeshe.

LASEPA said the enforcement action formed part of its ongoing efforts to curb environmental pollution, improve compliance with environmental regulations and promote a healthier environment for residents.

Commenting on the exercise, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agency’s commitment to protecting public health through the strict enforcement of environmental standards across the state.

He stressed that compliance with environmental regulations is a shared responsibility involving businesses, residents and other stakeholders, adding that adherence to the laws is essential to achieving a clean, safe and sustainable environment.

Ajayi warned that the agency would intensify monitoring and enforcement activities against individuals and organisations whose operations pose risks to environmental sustainability or public health.

He urged owners and operators of hospitality facilities, as well as residents, to adopt responsible environmental practices and ensure full compliance with all applicable environmental regulations.

The LASEPA boss reaffirmed that the agency would sustain enforcement actions against facilities that violate Lagos State environmental laws, insisting that no establishment would be allowed to operate in a manner that endangers the health and wellbeing of the public.
