Students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, yesterday, urged the state House of Assembly to order the suspension of the proposed renaming of the university to Ladoke Akintola University (LAU).

They also asked the House to order the university chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to suspend the ongoing strike.

The SUG, in a statement addressed to the House of Assembly and signed by its President, Anuoluwa Adeboye; General Secretary, Ibrahim Okiki Opaleke and Public Relations Officer, Love Gabriel Michael, said that the response of the students extracted from an online survey on the proposed renaming of LAUTECH conducted by the union on February 9, 2022 revealed a 99.74 per cent opposing the renaming of the institution.

They, therefore, appealed to the Assembly to come to their rescue.
