Lecturer sues college for N1bn over alleged illegal dismissal
A lecturer, Dr. Albert Tobechukwu Nwamaradi, has filed an N1b suit against the Federal College of Education Technical, Umunze in Anambra State, at the National Industrial Court sitting at Awka, over his unlawful dismissal.
In addition to the college, the governing council, the Provost, Dr. Tessy Okoli and the registrar, Mrs. B. C Nkah as named co-defendants.
The claimant in a Motion on Notice dated April 5, 2022, is seeking an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants and their privies by way of any committee, servants and agents from holding any session purported to discuss, deliberate, try and make any recommendation against the claimant/ applicant regarding his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), discharge certificate nor exemption certificate/ letter prior to his employment with the first defendant.
He is also asking for an order of court restraining the defendants and their privies, cronies, surrogates or any person who takes instructions from them in further interfering with his rights and privileges.
Nwamaradi is also asking for an order, compelling the defendants to transfer his services to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, with immediate effect as well as N900 million as damages for the intimidation, harassment, and loss of earnings and physiology trauma, he suffered as a result of his constructive dismissal.
He further asked for an order awarding him N150 million as damages among other reliefs.
