The APC local government congress was peaceful in Ebonyi State, with party loyalists turning out in their numbers to elect the 27-man local government executives of the party.

The Guardian observed that the Senator Julius Ali Ucha faction of the party had the upper hand over the group loyal to the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.

An INEC official, who pleaded anonymity, told journalists that the exercise was peaceful and credible, adding that materials arrived on time.

At Ikwo, Ivo, Ezza North, Ishielu, the process went on peacefully. But Onu’s faction was alleged to have boycotted the congresses.

The state chairman, Ben Nwobasi, alleged that Onu’s faction, led by Eze Nwachukwu, boycotted the congresses by avoiding the council venues, earlier chosen for the election.
