Makinde, Olubadan, others mourn popular Ibadan businessman, Bode Akindele

Banire pays tribute to Ajimobi, describes him as selfless leader

The foremost Ibadan industrialist, Chief Bode Akindele, is dead. He died yesterday in his residence in Apapa, Lagos. He was aged 86 years.

Meanwhile, Governor Seyi Makinde and Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, have described Akindele’s death as a colossal loss to the Ibadan people and Nigerians at large.

Makinde, in statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, described the late Parakoyi of Ibadanland and Chairman of Modandola Group as a worthy elder statesman and someone who is genuinely interested in the well-being of others. He said that the late businessman would be sorely missed.

Oba Adetunji, who expressed shock and disbelief over Akindele’s passing barely four days after the death of Oyo State immediate past governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, urged clerics and spiritual leaders, irrespective of affiliations, to intercede for the well-being of all our citizens, particularly our pride in Ibadanland.

On his part, Oloye Alabi, who is the Ekefa Olubadan of Ibadanland, said: “Sir Bode was humane and a silent philanthropist, who detested showoff. He was a successful industrialist with businesses in Nigeria and overseas. Sir Bode loved Ibadan, his home-town, much as he loved Nigeria.”

Also, President, Ibadan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sir Sola Abodunrin, said:”On behalf of Ibadan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, I hereby send condolence on the death of great industrialist of Ibadanland.

IN another development, former National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muiz Banire, has expressed heartfelt condolence to the families of Ajimobi, describing him as a selfless man.

He said: “He was a man that I cherish. He was very close to me and very supportive. He was a jolly good fellow, he has no ill-feeling against anyone. He was a free man. He lived a life of live and let’s live. He was not greedy.”
