Dignitaries, yesterday, extolled the virtues of Chairman of International Energy Services Limited (IESL), Dr. Oladiran Fawibe, for his achievements in the finance and energy industries and impact on younger professionals.

Chairman of the event, Olumuyiwa Ajibola, who spoke at the maiden edition of Dr. Diran Fawibe yearly lecture series held in Ibadan, commended the contributions of Fawibe to the finance and energy sectors and especially NNPC and UI in the last few decades, saying such impact cannot be quantified.

In his remarks, Makinde, who was represented by his Executive Assistant, Dr. Idowu Ogedengbe, said Fawibe played a remarkable role in the energy sector, just as he promised that Oyo State government would leverage power supply to unlock economic growth and empower young population in the state.

Makinde also said Oyo recognises the crucial role that energy plays in driving progress and how Fawibe had been able to combine his intellect both in the finance and energy sectors towards the development of the country.

He said Oyo would capitalise on the opportunities presented by the Energy Act Regulatory Commission recently signed into law by the Federal Government to provide avenues for resource exploration and the establishment of thriving industries in the state.

Wunti, who was the guest lecturer with the theme: ‘Shaping the future, building legends’ and also represented the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mele Kyari, described Fawibe as a good  mentor for younger generations both in the finance and energy sectors.

Wunti, while emphasising the importance of enhancing the skills of students to become competent and confident professionals, said that courage and informed decision-making would prepare the younger generations for success in any legendary environment.

The guest lecturer, therefore, called for creation of a collaborative platform, which would bring together individuals from various sectors and industries to address challenges faced by the country.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of UI, who was represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Aderonke Bayeroju, urged stakeholders from academia, industry, and government to leverage their collective wisdom and expertise to drive national development.

“Together, we can forge a future that is sustainable, inclusive and abundant. We should also reflect collective energy, which requires innovative thinking for positive impact, leading to success and economic growth.”
