Makinde reiterates commitment to quality nursing education
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Thursday, reiterated his administration’s commitment to encouraging quality nursing education in every institution of nursing across the state.
Makinde made this commitment while receiving a visiting Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria accreditation team at the conference room, Ministry of Justice, Secretariat, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde, who was represented by his deputy, Barrister Adebayo Lawal, acknowledged that nursing, as a profession, has gained global attraction and therefore should not be undermined.
The governor assured that his administration would not only provide more facilities, resources, and manpower to enhance the quality of nursing education but also ensure the implementation of the law for the establishment of the College of Nursing Sciences with multiple campuses in the state.
Earlier, the Chief Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Dr. Farouk Abubakar, said their visit was to ensure standards at all levels with the production of competent and qualified nurses.
The accreditation team inspected the School of Nursing, Ẹlẹ́yẹlé, and other nursing and midwifery campuses in Kishi and Oyo Town.
