APC aspirant, Adelabu, unveils seven-point agenda to transform Oyo

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reiterated the commitment of his administration to youth empowerment and poverty eradication. He gave the assurance at the orientation programme for beneficiaries and stakeholders of Nigeria COVID-19 recovery and economic stimulus labour organised by Intensive Public Workfare Agency for Youth Development, in collaboration with the World Bank, in Ibadan, Oyo State, yesterday.

Makinde, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Seun Fakorede, said the state would continue to partner with the World Bank in sustainable development project, among others.

MEANWHILE, a governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for 2019 election in Oyo State, Chief Abdul-Waheed Adebayo Adelabu, yesterday, intimated the media about his intention to contest the 2023 governorship poll on the same platform.

The aspirant promised a seven-point agenda to change the fortune of Oyo and its citizens if elected. Adelabu, while addressing journalists at the Adelabu Foundation Secretariat in Ibadan, said it was the aim and mission of the incoming APC’s administration expected to be led by him, come May 29 2023, to put government business where it should be in the service of humanity in Oyo State.

He said it would not be the character of his government to advertise payment of salary as achievements, noting that the real achievements lie in the actual vitalisation of departments of government to produce useful services, projects and programmes for the people.

“Workers will be made to see internal satisfaction in their work and not the exterior satisfaction of salary. I have genuine intentions to use my brain, disposition, training, experiences and ideals towards the advancement of my dear state.

“My seven points agenda for the good people of Oyo State will include security of life and property. This will be of utmost importance for the government that I will lead if voted in as the flagbearer of APC in the governorship contest of 2023 in Oyo State,” he stated.

Besides, he promised to embark on mechanised agriculture and poverty alleviation, industrialisation and employment creation, which according to him, would be deployed to bring back the glory of Ibadan as a hub for industrialists and we shall open up other cities and establish industrial networks in them.

Other agenda, according to him, include giving top priority to health, placing high focus on education, aggressive focus on improved and healthy environment and unflinching transparency in governance.

Adelabu added: “My ambition is intended to enrich politics with ethics, mix the soil of knowledge and professional competence with water of experiences in the service of humanity within the Oyo State context in Nigeria and the interdependent world.”
