Man kills policeman, complainant as youths mob attacker

A man has reportedly stabbed to death one Constable Solomon Ughere, attached to Ughelli Area Command, and a pastor of Living Faith Church, Lucky Aki.

The incident, which took place, weekend, at Evwreni community, in Ughelli North local council of Delta State, happened while the assailant attempted to retrieve a stolen vehicle parked at the premises of the church.

According to sources, the policeman had been among other officers and members of the church detailed to recover the stolen vehicle, after the theft had been reported at a police station.

The Guardian learnt that policemen and members of the church had found the attacker standing beside the vehicle.

“The suspect, on sighting the security agents, took to his heel and was chased to a nearby bush. While resisting arrest, he stabbed Ughere and Aki. Ughere died before getting to the hospital, while Aki died after arriving at Ughelli Central Hospital,” the sources said.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at a morgue.

The Guardian learnt that after the incident, the suspect fled the scene but was later arrested by the community’s youths.

“The suspect was arrested while attempting to escape through Girls Model Secondary School, Evwreni.”

Miffed by the killings, some of the youths reportedly set the attacker ablaze.
