Mbah, Ossai visit Ugwuanyi, express gratitude over guber victory

Enugu State Governor-elect, Dr. Peter Mbah, and the Deputy Governor-elect, Ifeanyi Ossai, yesterday, paid homage to the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, at the Government House, Enugu, to express profound gratitude to the governor.

Enugu State Governor-elect, Dr. Peter Mbah, and the Deputy Governor-elect, Ifeanyi Ossai, yesterday, paid homage to the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, at the Government House, Enugu, to express profound gratitude to the governor.

The Speaker of the state Assembly, Edward Ubosi; the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Augustine Nnamani; Senator Gil Emeka Nnaji; lawmakers representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo and Enugu North/South federal constituencies, Prince Cornelius Nnaji and Ofor Chukwuegbo, respectively, were among other dignitaries present during the meeting.

MEANWHILE, a Pan-Igbo socio-political pressure group, the South East Revival Group (SERG) has congratulated the Governors-elect of Abia State, Alex Otti, and his Enugu State counterpart, Mbah, as well as Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, for their respective victories at the polls.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of PDP winner of the governorship election in Enugu State and Otti the winner of the governorship poll in Abia State.

While Mbah polled a total of 160,895 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chijioke Edeoga, of the Labour Party (LP), who scored 157,552 votes, Otti scored 175,467 votes to defeat his closest contender and immediate-past Chief of Staff to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Okey Ahiwe, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 88,529 votes.

SERG also congratulated the governor-elect, Nwifuru, who was, on Monday, declared winner of the governorship election in Ebonyi State.

The incumbent Speaker of the state Assembly, Nwifuru, garnered a total of 199,131 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Ifeanyi Odii, of the PDP, who got a total of 80,191 votes.

The group, in a statement signed by its President and National Coordinator, Willy Ezugwu, urged the governors-elect to focused on delivering on their electoral promises and service to the people who elected them.
