Medeasy Africa launches home-care health pilot in Ibadan, Lagos

Medeasy Africa has commenced a pilot of its home-based and digital healthcare service in Ibadan and Lagos, offering households on-demand access to verified medical professionals. The initiative follows the platform’s first-place finish at the PAULESI Innovation Challenge.

The project, led by Nigerian physician Dr Costly Aderibigbe-Saba, began operations in April 2024 and has since recorded uptake among patients managing chronic illnesses, women seeking confidential reproductive and general health support, and elderly people with mobility challenges. Users in the two cities have relied on the service for diabetes and hypertension monitoring, urgent symptom reviews, postpartum care, menstrual health concerns, fever assessments, and medication adjustments.

The pilot is rolling out amid rising noncommunicable diseases and a shrinking healthcare workforce in Nigeria. Medeasy Africa uses a digital triage and dispatch system to connect users with doctors, nurses and allied health workers for home visits, telemedicine consultations, women’s health services and chronic disease follow-up.

The platform was co-developed by a reproductive health team of young African women from six countries. It seeks to address limited access to timely in-home medical support, particularly during emergencies or chronic disease episodes.

Speaking on the rollout, Dr. Aderibigbe-Saba said it marks “a major step in giving families access to timely, dignified healthcare at home, especially for people managing chronic conditions or navigating sudden health concerns.”
