Mentally unstable woman attacks KAI officer, passers-by in Lagos
A mentally unstable woman living in Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos under bridge, at the weekend, attacked passers-by with a knife and tore the uniform of a Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) officer.
The mother of two boys sleeps, bathes and cooks under the bridge.
Staff of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) working around the Awolowo way, said they have also been attacked by the woman severally and would always avoid where she and her children stay whenever they were working.
Policemen under the bridge told The Guardian that the woman always abused officers. Some persons at the scene tied her after she attacked the KAI officer.
A LAWMA worker who does not want her name in print said: “She was living around the General Hospital but was forced to leave after causing so much trouble in the area and she also continued fighting everyone when she moved here, she has two knives with her.
“She fetches water, cooks, she’s not wearing tattered clothes, so she’s just a beggar or someone put her here to be operating. We called on our boss to call on KAI to remove her but she also attacked one of the officers.
Reacting, LAWMA supervisor for Oba Akran and Kodeso, Adebisi Adedeji, said: “She has been attacking my people for a long time and it’s time for her to be removed from this spot and I have been making an effort.
The attacked Kai officer, Joseph Ojo said: “She removed all the buttons of my uniform and punched me severally. She needs to leave this area. This place is meant for recreation and not a home for lunatics and we are happy that the Lagos State Government is removing every one of them.
Recall that Lagos State Government, on Wednesday, August 18, introduced a special team that would raid nooks and crannies of the state to get rid of beggars, miscreants and street hawkers.
However, another mentally unstable woman with a child was spotted yesterday at the same venue.
The woman was with a male child.
