Michelin reiterates commitment to durable tyres, safety
Micheling Tyre Services, Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to the Nigerian market and partners, while reiterating its focus on ensuring smooth delivery of quality tyres and services to the people.
The Managing Director, Michelin Nigeria, Mrs. Chioma Alonge stated this at the company’s Stakeholders Dinner Night, held in Lagos.
Alonge dismissed rumours of the company’s departure from Nigeria, while emphasising its six-decade presence and ongoing operations.
She stated that while the manufacturing plant in Port Harcourt closed in 2007 due to unfavorable conditions, Michelin’s commitment to the Nigerian market remains unwavering.
She said: “Michelin does not just sell tyres. We are concerned about saving lives on Nigerian roads, and that’s why we ensure that only premium quality tyres are distributed. This commitment is evident in the diverse range of tyres the company offers, including car, truck, earthmover, and SUV tyres, along with brands like Komoran, and BF Goodrich.
“Michelin’s commitment to the Nigerian market underscores its long-term vision for the market. By prioritising quality, service, and safety, the company aims to continue its legacy of providing exceptional value to its customers and stakeholders.”
According to Alonge, Michelin’s dedication extends beyond product provision, encompassing comprehensive after-sales services, with Tyre Service Centres and mobile technical service vans providing tyre fitment, and other free technical services nationwide.
The Beyond Road Sales Director for Africa-Middle East-India (AIM), Ferreol Tournebize, highlighted the importance of the dealer network, stating, “Our focus is customer-centered”.
He further stressed that Michelin’s expertise and coverage goes beyond tyres, encompassing a broader range of products and a deep concern for road safety in Africa.
Assistant Director at Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Dr Ganiyat Adebayo urged the end users and dealers to use and sell certified tyres, even as she enumerated the signs and dimensions of tyres that are good for Nigerian roads.
Deputy Corps Marshal (retd) Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr. Akpabio Charles, charged dealers to ensure that the end users of tyres are adequately attended to, and necessary measures taken to ensure safety.
