A yet-to-be-identified middle-aged man, who allegedly attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the Lagos lagoon from the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge, was yesterday, rescued by workers of Lekki Concession Company (LCC).
The company, on its Twitter handle, said the man was seen being encouraged not to jump into the lagoon by some onlookers.
In the video, one of the workers said: “You are a man, you are a man. Do not jump. Your future is bright, do not jump. Your future is very bright.” One of the rescuers also called on others to assist in restraining the man from jumping into the lagoon.
According to the tweet, the man was later handed over to the police.
“Thanks to the quick intervention of LCC Patrol Officers, a young man was saved from committing suicide on Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge. He has been handed over to the Police,” the company wrote.
Meanwhile, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police (SP), David Hundeyin, is yet to confirm the development at press time as he neither picked calls nor responded to text messages sent to his official phone number.
