Former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, yesterday, described as awesome the plan of the National Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, to unite all members of the group.
According to Mimiko, who attended the recent meeting of the organisation held at the residence of Fasoranti in Akure, members of the committee would move around and work hard to deliver on the assignment given to them by the Afenifere leader.
The former governor, who is part of the reconciliation committee set up by the Afenifere leader, said the main objective was to explore strategies to unify all Yoruba leaders and members of Afenifere.
He said the nonagenarian’s desire was to reconcile and further strengthen the foremost Yoruba group in his lifetime.
Mimiko said through concerted efforts and determination, the committee would successfully accomplish its mission.
MEANWHILE, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, yesterday, said Nigeria has immense potential to build a world-class tourism destination, even as he urged the federal and state governments to learn from the development of Egypt’s tourism industry.
Adams, who is on a 10- day visit to the Northern African country for the launch of the Egyptian chapter of the Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) and the inauguration of the Yoruba community, said his visit to Egypt was an eye-opener to the various economic, social, political and global opportunities for Africa and Nigeria in particular.
The Yoruba generalissimo and culture promoter, who also visited the Nigerian Ambassador in Egypt, said the pyramids and museums in Egypt had remained enduring legacies of the country.
