Minister dismisses planned tapping of phone calls claims

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami, has denied claims that the ministry is tapping phone calls and monitoring Nigerians on social media effective from today.

Pantami was yesterday reacting to a message trending on the social media which claimed that he had ordered that all devices in the country should be connected to the ministry’s systems and that from today), it (ministry) will commence the recording of phone calls and monitoring of all social media platforms.

But in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Uwa Suleiman, the minister described the news as malicious.
