Monarch flays attempts to scare investors away from Akwa Ibom

Paramount ruler of Esit Eket local council in Akwa Ibom State, HRM, Edidem Ubong Peter Assam II, has warned that claims and counterclaims over the ownership of Stubbs Creek could scare investors from the area and the state in general.

The warning is contained in a statement signed by the royal father and made available to journalists in Uyo, yesterday.

According to the statement, the claims and counter-claims pose a serious threat to BUA Group of Companies and the envisaged BUA Refinery earmarked for the Stubbs Creek Forest Reserve (Akoiyak Ekid).

Assam condemned the threat and dissociated himself and the people Esit Eket local council from any attempt to scare away investors from the area.

He declared that Stubbs Creek Forest Reserve (Akoiyak Ekid) belongs to Ekid people of Esit Eket and Eket areas.

The statement read: “The paramount ruler and his good citizens of Esit Eket local council are favourably disposed to BUA Group of Companies establishing its BUA Refinery at the Stubbs Creek Forest Reserve (Akoiyak Ekid).”
