Adebule defeated Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and one-time Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa.

The monarch said that Adebule’s victory was a testament to her impeccable qualities as a leader and politician.

He noted that Adebule’s strides in politics were a product of academic brilliance and leadership sagacity.

“Notwithstanding the fact that she (Adebule) is an indigene of Iba town, she has demonstrated her administrative competence, academic brilliance, and political capability in public office and I am happy that she was recently elected as the standard-bearer of APC for Lagos West Senatorial District in the forthcoming general elections in 2023.

“However, I want her to see her victory as a reflection of the confidence reposed in her by the electorate, hence, she must work harder not only to justify this but to also ensure that she doesn’t disappoint them.”

The monarch, however, tasked politicians to eschew violence and play politics of ideas to win the hearts of the electorate, saying: “I want to seize this medium to urge politicians across all political parties, especially those who lost their party tickets, not to resort to violence to settle political scores but to work harder next time to get their party’s nod.

“The use of violence to gain political relevance is wrong and an aberration to civility, which remains a key attribute of a good democracy.”
