The Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) has decried the alleged military brutality in the area.

It claimed that the region had been deserted on account of that, as according to the group, the army personnel reportedly brutalise the indigenes, destroy their vehicles and extort them.

MOSOP President, Fegalo Nsuke, in a statement yesterday, described the relationship between the military and the Ogoni people as a “sad episode reminiscent of the years of the late Gen. Sani Abacha.”
