With the ongoing roadwork on Aiye junction and Isolo-Mushin road, motorists and road users have complained about alternative routes and the increasing traffic on the routes.

While speaking with The Guardian, a tricycle rider, Charles Sunday said: “The stress has been much on us and it has not been good for the business. And we can’t bear it anymore. Since morning we have been struggling. But we know that it is for a while and for our own good. Some passengers trek from Mushin down to Iyana Isolo to this spot to get keke and that has been quite stressful.

Ismaila Tahoree said: “We have been managing. Before the construction, we drove straight from Gate to Iyana Isolo but now for those coming from 5 Star, they will take Olushola Farombi down to college.

Another road user, Razaq added that those going to Mushin or Iyana Isolo usually ply Lamina Lawal Street, then Aswani and navigate out from 5 Star.

“It has not been convenient for us but we don’t have an option. There is no traffic using the alternative routes but for the Isala axis, the road has been experiencing a standstill. And for those going to Ilasa/Isolo, we use Limca road, then come out at Ilasa then Ire Akari, and that route is usually blocked in the evening.”

Recall that road user called on the state and local council to stand up to its responsibility for the deplorable state of Mushin/Isolo roads and dreadful traffic gridlock in the area.

The Mushin/Isolo road, on the Ile-Iwe Meta axis, which leads to Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), Ilasa, has been in a deplorable state with several potholes, which have destroyed many cars.

A trader in the area, who identified herself as Mrs. Fakeye said: “This road has damaged a lot of cars. Sometimes when trucks or cars get stranded here, it takes towing vehicle service providers to get them out of the road. The road has also led to a lot of accidents. From LASPOTECH to Ile-Iwe Meta, there have been constant gridlocks daily.”

While calling on the contractors to complete the road quickly, they stated that the closure has affected commercial activities and also made maneuvering alternative routes difficult.
