NAF, Akwa Ibom government mourn Nsikak Eduok

Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, and Akwa Ibom State Government have announced the death of former CAS, Air Marshal Nsikak-Abasi Essien Eduok (rtd.).

Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, and Akwa Ibom State Government have announced the death of former CAS, Air Marshal Nsikak-Abasi Essien Eduok (rtd.).

In a statement by Director Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal, Ibikunle Daramola, the late Eduok died yesterday, January 6, 2021, at a hospital in Uyo where he was receiving treatment.

Also, Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem in a statement made available to newsmen in Uyo yesterday, said Eduok died from end-stage kidney failure.

“Information from his doctors showed that he died of end-stage kidney failure.
“He was a very respected Nigerian and Akwa Ibom indigene, who contributed to the development of our country and state. Governor Udom Emmanuel grieves by the news of his death and extends his condolences to the bereaved family,” the statement reads.

Late Air Marshal Eduok, who was the 12th CAS, served the NAF from 1968 to 1999, and was CAS from 1996 to1999.

Born on July 11, 1947 at Mbak, Akwa Ibom State, the late Air Marshal Eduok enlisted into the NAF as a Potential Pilot on August 1, 1968. He had his initial military training at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), after which he went for primary flying training in 1970.

“The contributions of this confident, courageous and professional senior officer even while in retirement would be sorely missed.

“His death is a monumental loss to the NAF family and the entire nation. May God Almighty comfort the Eduok family and grant them the fortitude to bear the great loss, the NAF statement added.
