NAF plans deployment of troops for mop-up operations in North East

Nigerian-TroopsThe Nigerian Air Force (NAF) plans to deploy additional troops to the multinational Joint Task Force for mop-up military operations in north-eastern part of the country to rid the region of insurgency, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Baba Abubakar, has revealed.

Besides, Abubakar revealed that the Air Force had already deployed troops for internal security operations in the troubled Niger Delta region to decimate the criminal activities of the Niger Delta Avengers.

He said the Force is dedicated to continue discharging its constitutional responsibilities. The Chief of Air Staff, who spoke on Thursday in Kano while commissioning the newly constructed officers’ accommodation, said that additional troops deploying to the North East region was targeted at accelerating the mop-up military operations on insurgency in the region, especially Borno State.

Abubakar said the military was not taking any chance in combating the menace of criminal minded activities in the country, noting that the Air Force is repositioned to carry out its mandate of ensuring maximum defence of internal and external aggression.

The Air Force Chief maintained that under his stewardship, Nigerian Air Force would sustain the vision to repositioning officers and men of the force into a highly professional and disciplined force through capacity building initiatives for effective, efficient and timely employment of air power in response to Nigerian’s national security imperatives.
