NAF promotes officer for returning €37,000
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has promoted an officer, Bashir Umar, who returned €37,000 found in a parcel at the Hajj Camp Market in Kano State to the owner.
He was given a two-step promotion to the rank of corporal, a feat he would achieved in 10 years.
Umar, a member of the NAF Mobile Air Defence Team deployed for airport security duties, found the parcel last Tuesday during a routine patrol with some of his colleagues.
He, however, returned the money, which belonged to one Alhaji Ahmad, after calling a telephone number on the parcel.
Speaking at an event organised to honour Umar yesterday in Abuja, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar said he (Umar) showed uncommon integrity by returning the money.
