The Federal College of Forestry, Jericho, Ibadan, witnessed a major boost for academic excellence as Ambassador David Oluwadamilare (KRD) unveiled a scholarship scheme for students who graduate with distinction during a grand homecoming organised in honour of the National Financial Secretary of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Alao John Oluwadamilola.

Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the event, Ambassador Oluwadamilare announced the Ambassador David Oluwadamilare Academic Support Initiative, a scholarship programme that will sponsor the tuition fees of outstanding graduating students.

He said the initiative was established to reward academic excellence, encourage hard work and ensure that exceptional students are not denied opportunities because of financial constraints.

According to him, the scheme reflects his commitment to youth empowerment, educational development and nation-building through sustained investment in human capital.

“Excellence should never go unrewarded. When we celebrate academic brilliance and invest in our young people, we are investing in the future of our nation,” he said.

Oluwadamilare explained that the scholarship programme is designed as a long-term intervention that will provide continuous educational support to deserving students while promoting a culture of excellence across the institution.

He urged students to remain focused on their studies, noting that academic achievement remains one of the surest pathways to personal development and national progress.

The announcement was greeted with applause from the college management, staff, students, alumni and other guests, who described the initiative as a timely intervention that would motivate students to strive for academic distinction.

The homecoming, organised by the Students’ Union Government of the Federal College of Forestry, celebrated the emergence of Comrade Alao John Oluwadamilola as the National Financial Secretary of NANS.

The event featured goodwill messages, recognition of distinguished staff members and renewed calls on alumni, philanthropists, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to complement government efforts by supporting education through scholarships, mentorship, research funding and infrastructural development.
