The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun State Joint Campus Council (JCC), has lauded the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), for disbursing over ₦1.06 billion in scholarships and bursaries to 5,312 students across Ogun State.

 

The students’ body described the intervention as a landmark investment in education and human capital development, saying it has provided financial relief to thousands of students and their families amid rising educational costs.

 

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Habeebullahi Adekunle Tijani, popularly known as Kennyology, the students’ body said the commendation followed the successful hosting of the third edition of the YAYI Scholarship and Bursary Award Scheme held on July 26.

 

According to the statement, the disbursement of more than ₦1.061 billion to students across the state underscored the lawmaker’s commitment to improving access to education and empowering young Nigerians.

 

It noted that Adeola’s sustained investment in scholarships, student welfare, campus development and other social intervention programmes had distinguished him as one of the country’s foremost public office holders in youth development.

 

The council urged other elected and appointed public office holders to emulate the initiative by prioritising educational support as a strategic tool for national development.

 

“Nigeria’s development depends largely on investment in education. Initiatives such as this scholarship and bursary scheme deserve to be replicated across the country,” the statement said.

 

It also lauded the Scholarship and Bursary Planning Committee for what it described as a transparent, credible and well-coordinated selection process that ensured fairness and accountability.

 

The students’ body congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to remain committed to their academic pursuits while making productive use of the opportunity.

 

It reiterated its commitment to recognising and supporting individuals and institutions whose contributions continue to advance education and improve the welfare of Nigerian students.
