NAOC JV Commissions road project in Bayelsa community

In continuation of its drive to empower its host communities, the Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited, operators of the NNPC/NAOC/ONDO Joint Venture, over the weekend, commissioned a 500M concrete road and two side drains in Egbemo Angalabiri community, Ekeremor Council of Bayelsa State. The project is part of the firm’s corporate social responsibility to the community.

The Managing Director of the NAOC, Mr. Massimo Insulla, who spoke on behalf the Joint Venture Partners, said the road project would ease internal mobility within the community and also improve both the economic and general well-being of the people.

Represented by the Stakeholders Management and Community Development Division Manager of the Company, Mr. Dennis Masi, Insulla further said that the road project was provided in fulfilment of the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) entered into between NAOC/ its Joint Venture Partner and Egbemo Angalabiri Community.

The managing director also said that under the Access to Infrastructure Program of the Company, which is geared at providing socially beneficial and sustainable projects in its areas of operations, NAOC and its Joint Venture Partners would continue to embark on projects that will make life more meaningful to members of its host communities.

In his address, the Community Development Committee Chairman, Mr. Pumokumo Gabice, said it was very gratifying to see the completion and commissioning of the road project by NAOC and its joint Venture Partners, noting that the manifestation of the project was a dream come true for the people.

The community chairman thanked the company for fulfilling the terms of the memorandum of understanding with the community and urged other oil companies operating within the territory to emulate NAOC and its JV partners.

The NAOC team and its JV partners led by the Deputy Manager Infrastructure, Estate Maintenance and Engineering of NAOC, Mrs. Naina Osima who was present at the occasion, undertook an inspection tour of an ongoing construction of a 750M concrete road and drains and also a 300 sitting capacity civic centre.

The team also visited some other projects earlier built and commissioned by NAOC and its Joint venture partners in the community in recent years including a 500KVA generator, six classroom block project and a 500M concrete road and two side drains.

Present at the occasion were Mr. Orok Rosta, Community Relations Officer, Oando Oil Limited, Mr. Onyinmo Kenneth as well as women, youths and other community persons from the community.
