NAPTIP arrests 26-year-old man for human trafficking in Anambra
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), has arrested a 26- year- old man for alleged human trafficking offence in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
The State Commander of NAPTIP, Mrs. Judith-Chukwu Ibadin, who disclosed this to newsmen, yesterday said the suspect, Franklin Onyebuchi was arrested in collaboration with Nigeria Immigration Service.
According to her, Onyebuchi is a native of Imo State, but resides at Onitsha, adding that he was arrested for recruiting a 20-year old lady (names withheld) for one other suspected human trafficker resident in Dubai.
“The suspect was operating in conjunction with his syndicates based in Edo State and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
“The suspect lured the victim from Edo State to Anambra and he was arrested at Immigration office in Awka, while he was processing Nigerian International Passport for the victim to be trafficked to Dubai.
“The victim has been rescued and taken to a safe home by NAPTIP, while investigation is ongoing,” she said.
