NAPTIP arrests Ochanya’s aunt for conspiracy

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has arrested the late Elizabeth Ochanya Ogbaje’s aunt, Mrs. Felicia Ogbuja, for her silence on the alleged travails of her niece.
Ochanya Ogbaje died last month as a result of alleged sexual assault by her uncle and his son. NAPTIP said its operatives arrested Mrs. Ogbuja as she is suspected to have had knowledge of the nefarious act but refused to report or speak out.
The arrest of Mrs. Ogbuja, who is said to be an employee of the Catering Department of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, came four weeks after intensive manhunt, having disappeared from her house shortly after the tragic incident.
Elizabeth Ochanya Ogbaje, a 13-year-old student of the Federal Government Girls’ College, Gboko, died on October 21, 2018 after a battle with Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) and other health complications at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.
The Director-General of NAPTIP, Dame Julie Okah-Donli, had earlier directed the Makurdi Zonal Command of the Agency to arrest Mrs. Ogbuja and other accomplices for prosecution.
