Nasarawa assembly suspends governor’s aide
Nasarawa State House of Assembly has suspended the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Development Control, Stanley Buba, to pave way for investigation on the activities of the Nasarawa State Urban Development Board (NUDB).
The Speaker, Ibrahim Abdullahi, announced this yesterday after Buba’s appearance before the house in Lafia.
Abdullahi said the decision by the house was to ensure a thorough investigation of the activities of NUDB.
He said that the appearance of the SSA followed the house resolution of Monday, September 7, 2020, for the aide to give some clarifications on the activities of the board.
“Based on the resolution of the house, Buba should step aside to enable the committee to carry out its duties effectively without interference.
“The house set up a six-man investigative committee comprising David Maiyaki (PDP, Karu/Gitata), Chairman; Mohammed Okpoku (APC, Udege/Loko), Deputy Chairman; Suleiman Azara (APC, Awe South), Daniel Ogazi (APC, Kokona East), Abdullahi Angibi (APC, Lafia Central) and Mohammed Isa (APC, Uke/Karshi). The Deputy Clerk, Ibrahim Musa, will serve as secretary to the committee.
The speaker gave the committee three months to submit its report to the house.
The lawmakers in the state had accused Buba of acting beyond his powers by issuing approvals on the activities of the board and issuing payment receipts.
But Buba said that the duties given to him by the governor included granting of approvals.
