The Nigerian Navy has urged communities in Enugu State to be law abiding and cooperate with security agencies in order to tackle raging insecurity.
The Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship MADUEKE, Commodore Nsikan Friday, stated this during the educational empowerment outreach in Adani community, Uzo-uwani local government area, Enugu State, as part of activities to mark the 70th year celebration of the Nigerian Navy.
The Navy had provided exercise books and vests to all primary and secondary schools in Adani, as part of her Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The area hosts the Naval base.
Friday, stated at the educational outreach, where the community members were acquainted with the activities of the Navy that the outreach was aimed at supporting the future of the children of the area.
“This was done to celebrate the 70 years of Nigerian Navy so that we can also educate them about the activities of Navy. So we thought that since the children are the future, we should reach out to them with our programmes and activities so that they can become part of Navy”, he said
He disclosed that the Navy had from time to time intervened in infrastructure in the schools by furnishing classrooms, toilets to make them more conducive.
He thanked the Adani community for their continued support to the Nigerian Navy, urging them to always provide prompt information that could prevent crimes.
“Prompting us when they suspect any criminal activity will go a long way in preventing crimes. Within our operational environment there has been relative security and economic activity have been striving due to the synergy between us and the community. This is because they have been cooperative and we urge them to continue in that spirit”, he added.
