Anambra State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has condemned the poor mistreatment of a woman accused of promiscuity, which allegedly led to the death of her husband in Aguleri Community, Anambra East Council of the state and sought prosecution of the culprits.

A video clip, which went viral, showed that the woman was paraded naked by some members of the community after being accused of killing her husband through an overdose of sex.

Other reports claimed that her husband died from her alleged unfaithfulness during sexual intercourse with her, while other said it was because the husband ate her food, but the state chairperson of NAWOJ. has condenmed the resort to self help.

A statement issued in Awka, yesterday, said: “Whichever the case, while we do not support infidelity and promiscuity, we condemn the treatment meted to the woman.

“We wonder how the Aguleri people arrived at the conclusion that the woman killed her husband since no autopsy was conducted on the man before he was buried.”

The group further expressed shock that such a primitive and detestable practice could be mentioned in the 21st century, adding: “It is also heartbreaking that fellow women were among those who tormented the accused in the viral video.”
