
The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) and Bank of Industry Limited (BOI), on Wednesday, won awards for their outstanding compliance with the mandate of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
The Committee on Federal Character of the House of Representatives also commended the principles and mandate of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
Chairman of FCC, Dr Muheeba Dankaka, while presenting the award in Abuja, during the commission’s second maiden award ceremony, organized by FCC.
Dankaka said: “I have realized too that in our efforts to promote the unity of the country through our functions, It will be worthy to establish a reward system to encourage MDAs who voluntarily complies with our procedures and guiding principles.
“In the same vein it should be extended to commissioners and staff who have exhibited high sense of responsibility in carrying out assigned schedule and
duties.
“Today, apart from the certificate of appreciation, there is a token to further spur our staff to do more. Ministries, Department and Agencies who did not appear this year may surely have an
opportunity to be rewarded next year.”
She called on MDAS to continue to support the commission by adhering to laid down rules of the Commission.
In his remarks, the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Federal Character, Dr. Anthony Adebayo, said that the committee will ensure the mandate of character commission for national unity and development.
Adebayo said: “The federal character commission is a commission that holds this country together, your role in this country is very important in that sense. If you look at Nigeria today there have been agitations around the country.
“Your commission is placed in a special opportunity, to reduce the agitation and ensure that the unity of this country remains the way it is. I think it’s a great role to begin. So, I want to thank you for everything you have done so far and I can tell you that the country is proud of the work you are doing every single day.”
FCC also presented awards to commissioners and staff who have worked tirelessly with a high sense of responsibility in the discharge of their duties.
Other award beneficiaries are; The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA); Obafemi Awolowo University; Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital; University of Ilorin; Federal Teaching Hospital Ido-Ekiti; Federal University Otuoke Admits; University Of ILorin Teaching Hospital; The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON); Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital; University of Abuja (UNIABUJA); University of Abuja (UNIABUJA).”
