The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has urged Nigerians to be cybersecurity-conscious.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has urged Nigerians to be cybersecurity-conscious.

Its Executive Vice Chairman (EVC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, said the warning was to ensure their safety online.

He spoke at an event heralding the series of awareness being championed by the commission to mark the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM).

Every October 1 is observed globally to sensitise the public on online safety.

EVC reiterated that 149.8 million citizens were connected via mobile as at August this year, believing that more persons would hit the online as digitilisation takes firmer roots in the country.

The advisory was contained in a statement issued by NCC’s Director of Public Administration, Dr. Ike Adinde.
