NDE disburses over N5m loan to Taraba women, youths
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has disbursed over N5m, as revolving loan, to over 500 women and youths across the 16 local councils of Taraba State to boost their businesses.
Disbursing the loan in Jalingo, yesterday, NDE Director-General, Dr. Ladan Argungu, said the initiative was designed to assist women and youths already into small-scale businesses to expand.
The NDE boss, who spoke through the State Coordinator, Alhaji Aderemi Adebisi, said the programme, under the directorate’s Micro Enterprises Enhancement Scheme (MEES), is geared towards economic growth and poverty reduction.
Each beneficiary, it was learnt, received N10.000.
Elated at the way and manner the directorate has been addressing unemployment in the state, the Minister of Power, Engineer, Sale Mamman, said the gesture was to assist the President Muhammadu Buhari in rolling out life-transforming programmes that would benefit women and youths in the state and the country at large.
He spoke through his Special Assistant on Administration, Alhaji Gambo Karim.
