Cleric urges more prayers for President

A new group, Coalition of Civil Societies and Youth Groups, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to succumb to pressure to cut short his medical vacation in London or resign from office.

The group has also planned a street rally tagged “Remain and restore” to be staged in Abuja and Lagos to show support for the President. The Co-ordinator‎ of the newest group, Mr. Solomon Adodo, said those calling for the resignation of the President were only overheating the polity.

“We are all witnesses to how the polity is being overheated over none issues by persons whose contributions to the nation remain questionable.  “These are the people that have attempted staging protests both in Abuja House in London and on the streets of Abuja.

“Their excuse for this show of shame is to ask for the absurd, they are demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari should cut short his medical vacation and immediately resume duties or resign.

“This charade is absurd for those of us who recall clearly that Nigerians prevailed on President Buhari to take time off and attend to his health while strictly following his doctors’ instruction,” Adodo stated.

In another development, President of Benson Idahosa University (BIU), Edo State, Bishop Faith Emmanuel Benson Idahosa, has called for more prayers for President Buhari to get well and return to the country.

He made the request after the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the institution’s open distance learning centre in Okha, near Benin City.He said Nigeria was a creation of God and disagreed with beliefs in some quarters that the country was wrongly created with the Amalgamation of the Southern and Northern Protectorates.

“Nigeria is a country that has come to stay. It was not done by accident; it was not a mistake. God has created this nation and our job, as Christians, is to pray for whoever is there as a leader.

“The person leading any nation is not there by mistake. If God did not want the person to be there, he would not be there. So, we know that the person is there because God has ordained him.” Idahosa also stressed the need for the citizens to work towards the successful nation, through prayers.
