The Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, Sen. Ken Eze, and the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Community Engagement, South-East, Barr. Chioma Nweze, have commended Nigerians for their patriotism, resilience and confidence in the government despite prevailing economic and social challenges.
In separate messages to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary and Ebonyi State’s 30th anniversary of creation, the two leaders also felicitated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and the people of Nigeria and Ebonyi State, expressing optimism for a more prosperous future.
They believed that Nigerians are passing through hard times occasioned by inherited bad economy from previous administrations stressing that that their happiness is the President Tinubu is gradually fixing the economy.
Eze on his message said Nigeria’s journey under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda reflected ongoing efforts to rebuild the economy, expand infrastructure, strengthen agriculture, improve education and healthcare, and create opportunities for citizens.
He also commended the Federal Government for infrastructural interventions across the South-East, including road construction and rehabilitation, bridges, public buildings, healthcare facilities, educational institutions and urban renewal projects.
According to him, the projects have contributed to improved connectivity, economic activities and social development across communities in the region.
The senator further highlighted human capital development as a critical component of governance, citing scholarships, youth empowerment programmes, skills-acquisition initiatives and educational support schemes as measures capable of enhancing self-reliance and productivity.
In Ebonyi State, Eze commended Governor Nwifuru’s administration for its focus on peace, infrastructure, education, healthcare and human capital development under the People’s Charter of Needs.
He said efforts to sustain peace in formerly troubled communities, coupled with investments in road infrastructure, specialised universities and other development projects, underscored the importance of stability and purposeful leadership in driving sustainable development.
He, however, urged governments at all levels to deepen inclusive development, translate policies into tangible benefits for citizens, prioritise job creation and improve living standards.
Eze also called on Nigerians, particularly residents of the South-East, to protect the peace, embrace constructive engagement and participate actively in building a united and prosperous Nigeria.
On her part, Nweze called on Nigerians to renew their commitment to peace, unity, responsible citizenship and shared prosperity, while commending President Tinubu for what she described as his administration’s interventions and development projects in the South-East.
She cited initiatives including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and interventions in student financing and housing as evidence of the Federal Government’s development priorities.
According to her, the Renewed Hope Agenda has, within a relatively short period, focused on economic reforms, infrastructure development, social interventions and efforts to create an enabling environment for investment and business growth.
Nweze also commended the administration’s attention to workers’ welfare, saying improvements in salaries and working conditions would contribute to improved morale and productivity.
She said the Federal Government’s commitment to peace, unity and security across Ebonyi, Anambra, Imo, Abia and Enugu states remained important to creating an environment conducive to development and harmonious coexistence.
Nweze further expressed optimism that ongoing infrastructure projects would strengthen connectivity and expand economic opportunities across the region.
Speaking on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, she said: “I am amazed that every road, every place is being opened up. This will give our women the opportunity of getting to hospital without giving birth on the road. It will make our farmers able to bring their food to town to sell.”
She added that the highway would reconnect communities across the South-East and adjoining states while contributing to the revival of historical trade routes.
Nweze urged Nigerians to remain committed to national development, saying the progress of the country required collective responsibility, peaceful coexistence and constructive engagement.
She also expressed support for the continuation of the Tinubu administration beyond 2027.
