Nigeria, Grenada boost Africa–Caribbean cooperation with new partnership

Nigeria and Grenada, on Tuesday, strengthened their partnership aimed at deepening Africa–Caribbean cooperation and advancing transformational leadership across the Global Black Community.

They reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing a new generation of transformational leaders who will drive inclusive growth, foster institutional trust, and promote sustainable prosperity.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the GOTNI Leadership Centre (GLC), Dr. Linus Okorie, disclosed this in Abuja while receiving the Prime Minister of Grenada, the Honourable Dickon Mitchell.

Okorie described the visit as a significant milestone for South–South collaboration, underscoring the shared heritage and aspirations of Africa and the Caribbean.

He said: “A new chapter in leadership export from Africa to the world. GOTNI exists to raise a new cadre of ethical, visionary leaders who build institutions, create wealth, and advance human flourishing.

“By connecting Africa’s leadership assets with emerging Caribbean opportunities, we are expanding what is possible for the Global Black Community, economically, culturally, and civically.”

During a strategic dialogue session led by Dr. Okorie, discussions focused on equipping emerging leaders with the values and mindset needed for systemic transformation.

Mitchell, who commended GOTNI’s work in leadership development, described the institution as a model for building capable, ethical leaders who can drive progress at all levels of society.

He said: “GOTNI’s work in developing principled, capable leaders is invaluable. Africa and the Caribbean share a common heritage and a common future. Our prosperity will be shaped by the quality of leaders we raise, and by partnerships like this that convert shared heritage into shared advancement.”

The forum emphasised expanding education beyond classroom learning to include moral and behavioural development, prioritising health and wellness as a foundation for productivity, and promoting intergenerational wealth creation through institutional reforms and people-centred governance.

The engagement also explored potential areas of economic cooperation. Using the GOTNI platform, Prime Minister Mitchell showcased Grenada’s investment and tourism opportunities to Nigerian business leaders.

Key sectors highlighted included luxury real estate and hospitality, as well as offshore oil and gas collaboration, where Nigerian expertise remains highly sought after. Additionally, Grenada’s Investment Migration Programme was featured through the National Transformation Fund or approved real estate projects.

He further advocated for the establishment of direct air links between Africa and the Caribbean to enhance economic mobility, cultural exchange, and diplomatic engagement.
