Anglican church urges women to be noble, role models

The Anglican Church has urged women to be a noble wives and mothers with good character and be God-fearing. According to the president of the women organisation of Saint Peters Anglican Church Ijeshatedo, Mrs. Gloria Chibueze, women should be morally up to date and be women of charitable good character and understanding.

She made this call yesterday while celebrating the world mother’s day with the theme ‘the wife of a noble character’. She said she was honoured and felt great to be a mother.

“My words for women out there is that they should attain nobility, they should be wives that men will look up to, they should be mothers their children will be proud of and the society at large will want to emulate,” she advised.

Also, the general co-ordinator of the group, Ezinne Evelyn Agwunobi, said women should be respectful and submissive to their husbands and in return husbands should love their wives.

The vicar of the church, Rev. Cannon Emmanuel Chibueze, also urged mothers to be disciplined, caring, selfless and patient. “The pain of childbirth can only be imagined, but this is what mothers have to endure. Some lose their lives in the process and some have to put up with health complications that may arise from childbirth and some have to deal with mental and emotional issues such as post-partum depression, which makes some of them suicidal. “Mothers play a big role in shaping or influencing the society, the church, the nation, and people for good or bad by the way they train their children,” he said.
