Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, the Amanyanabo of Elem-Kalabari, is seeking to deepen cultural and economic ties between the Kalabari Kingdom in Rivers State and Ile Ife, Osun State.
Dokubo-Asari said his vision is to draw Nigeria’s historic traditional institutions closer and ensure the people feels its impact.
He stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, at the palace of Oduduwa in Ile Ife at the weekend.
The visit brings together two traditional institutions, whose identities are closely associated with origins, ancestral memory and the continuity of indigenous civilisation.
During the visit, Dokubo-Asari extended a personal invitation to the Ooni to attend Se Diye, his final coronation rites scheduled for December 19, 2026 in Buguma, Rivers State, which carries a significance beyond the courtesies of a royal audience.
“It is based on the cordial relationship that we have built that I am here today to invite His Imperial Majesty and his council to my Se Diye, the final rites of coronation on December 19,2026 in Buguma”, he said.
In his address, Ogunwusi, welcomed Dokubo-Asari and his entourage, which included a philanthropist and paramount chief in Kalabariland, Prince Tonye Princewill, to his palace of Oduduwa.
The traditional ruler described the Elem Kalabari monarch as fearless, said the fear of Dokubo-Asari is the beginning of wisdom.
Ogunwusi, thanked Dokubo-Asari for the love and his relationship with President Bola Tinubu, commended him for the wisdom he has been handling his affairs since he became Amanyanabo of Elem Kalabari.
The visit to the Ooni of Ife followed a series of royal engagements by Da Amakiri Tubo earlier in the week, including visits to His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, and the Etsu Nupe.
