
Thetholic Women Organisaton (CWO), St. Jude Catholic Church Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, recently joined their counterparts across the World to celebrate Mother’s Day in a grand style.
Speaking at the event, the Parish Priest, Rev. Father Patrick Okoye, prayed for the mothers, as they celebrated the motherhood. He said: “I pray for the mothers.God will see them through in all their endeavours. I pray that their children will obey them so that they can enjoy the fruits of their labours.”
He said: “I pray for the mothers that God will see them through in all their endeavors. I pray that their children will obey them so as they can eat the fruits of their labours”.
He encouraged mothers that despite the economic hardship in the country they should not give up in caring for their children and entire household.
The Parish Priest also prayed for mothers who are sick that God will give them divine healing. “As well as mothers who have lost their lives that God will grand their souls eternal rest”.
The President CWO, St. Jude Catholic Church Mafoluku Mrs. Nkem Nweke, said Mother’s Day celebration comes up on Sunday during the feast of annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. “This is the period when Virgin Mary conceived through the Holy spirit and bear her son Jesus Christ our Lord. She went through the pregnancy process and sufferings associated with it, that is what mothers are celebrating today”.
She said mothers should keep hope alive because they are the windows their families need to see.
She said Catholic Church declares this year’s mothers celebration as a year of hope. “Hope can only be kept alive by having faith in God”.
Nweke, said women in Nigeria generally should be steadfast in their prayers that despite the challenges God will see them through.
The President noted that the CWO also visited motherless babies home to celebrate the mother’s day with the needy and less privilege people in the society.
